How it's taken

Metforcap tablets are taken by mouth with meals. The typical starting dose for adults is 500 mg twice daily or 850 mg once daily. The dose may be increased gradually based on blood sugar levels. For children 10 years and older, the starting dose is usually 500 mg twice daily. Always follow your doctor or pharmacist's instructions.

Common side effects

Common side effects that affect more than 5% of users include diarrhoea, nausea or vomiting, gas (flatulence), weakness (asthenia), indigestion, stomach discomfort, and headache.

Important cautions

Metforcap should not be used in people with severe kidney problems, allergy to metformin, or metabolic acidosis such as diabetic ketoacidosis. Serious risks include lactic acidosis (a rare but life-threatening condition), low vitamin B12 levels, and low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia) when used with insulin or certain other diabetes medicines.
