How it's taken

Clavopil is a tablet taken by mouth. The dose and frequency depend on the patient's age, weight, and type of infection. It is typically taken every 12 hours or every 8 hours, as prescribed by a healthcare provider. Always follow your doctor's instructions or a pharmacist's advice.

Common side effects

The most common side effects include diarrhea (loose stools), nausea, skin rash, vomiting, and vaginal yeast infection (vaginitis). Some people may experience serious side effects such as allergic reactions, severe skin rashes, liver problems, or diarrhea caused by Clostridioides difficile infection. If you experience any severe symptoms, contact your doctor immediately.

Important cautions

Do not use Clavopil if you have a history of serious allergic reaction to amoxicillin, clavulanate, or other beta-lactam antibiotics like penicillins and cephalosporins. Also avoid it if you have had liver problems or jaundice when taking amoxicillin/clavulanate before. During treatment, watch for signs of allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing), severe skin reactions, or diarrhea. If you have mononucleosis, you may be more likely to develop a rash. Inform your doctor about all other medicines you take.
