Kalbloc-10 (Amlodipine 10 mg Tablet) – Overview

What it is

Kalbloc-10 contains amlodipine, a type of medicine called a calcium channel blocker. It works by relaxing blood vessels, which helps lower blood pressure and improves blood flow to the heart.

What it's used for

Kalbloc-10 is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children aged 6 years and older. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks. It is also used for certain types of chest pain (angina), including chronic stable angina and variant (Prinzmetal's) angina, as well as for patients with coronary artery disease confirmed by angiography who do not have heart failure or a low ejection fraction.

How it's taken

Kalbloc-10 is taken by mouth as a tablet, usually once daily. The dose is determined by a doctor based on the patient's condition, age, and other factors. Treatment typically starts at a low dose and may be increased gradually as needed. Always follow your doctor's instructions and do not change the dose without medical advice.

Common side effects

Common side effects include swelling of the ankles or feet (edema), dizziness, flushing, palpitations (awareness of heartbeats), fatigue, and nausea. These effects are often mild and may improve over time. If they persist or bother you, inform your doctor.

Important cautions

Do not use Kalbloc-10 if you are allergic to amlodipine or any of its ingredients. Use caution if you have severe aortic stenosis (narrowing of the heart valve) as it may cause low blood pressure. In patients with severe coronary artery disease, starting or increasing the dose can rarely worsen chest pain or trigger a heart attack. If you have severe liver disease, your doctor will start you on a lower dose and adjust slowly. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before using this medicine.
