What it is

Bpcon-10 duplicate diffrerent product inactive is a brand of amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker. It is supplied as 10 mg tablets (NAFDAC Reg. No. B4-9682) and works by relaxing blood vessels to lower blood pressure and improve blood flow.

What it's used for

Bpcon-10 is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children aged 6 years and older. Lowering blood pressure helps reduce the risk of strokes and heart attacks. It is also used for coronary artery disease, including chronic stable angina (chest pain on exertion), vasospastic angina (chest pain at rest), and in patients with documented coronary artery disease who do not have heart failure or a low ejection fraction.

How it's taken

Bpcon-10 tablets are typically taken once daily by mouth. For adults, the usual starting dose is 5 mg, with a maximum dose of 10 mg. Smaller, fragile, or elderly patients, or those with liver problems, may start at 2.5 mg daily. For children, the starting dose is usually 2.5 mg to 5 mg once daily. Always follow your doctor's instructions and do not change your dose without medical advice.

Common side effects

Common side effects include swelling of the ankles or feet (edema), dizziness, flushing, and palpitations (feeling of rapid or irregular heartbeat). These are often dose-related. Fatigue and nausea have also been reported. Not everyone experiences these side effects. Tell your doctor if any side effect bothers you or does not go away.

Important cautions

Do not take Bpcon-10 if you are allergic to amlodipine. In rare cases, symptomatic low blood pressure (hypotension) may occur, especially in people with severe aortic stenosis (narrowing of the heart valve). Worsening chest pain or a heart attack may very rarely happen after starting or increasing the dose, particularly in those with severe coronary artery disease. If you have severe liver disease, your doctor will start you on a low dose and increase it slowly. Seek medical help if you experience signs of an allergic reaction or severe side effects.
