What it is

Pribel is a brand of pregabalin. Pregabalin is a medicine that works on the nervous system to relieve certain types of nerve pain and to control seizures when used together with other seizure medicines.

What it's used for

Pribel (pregabalin) is used for: nerve pain caused by diabetic peripheral neuropathy (damage from diabetes), nerve pain after shingles (postherpetic neuralgia), fibromyalgia (a condition with widespread muscle pain and tenderness), nerve pain associated with spinal cord injury, and as an add-on treatment for partial-onset seizures in patients 1 month of age and older.

How it's taken

Pribel capsules are taken by mouth. For adults, treatment is typically started at 150 mg per day. Depending on the condition being treated, the daily dose may be divided into two or three separate doses. Your doctor will determine the right dose and schedule for you. Common side effects

Possible side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, swelling of the hands or feet (peripheral edema), weight gain, and blurred vision. Some side effects are serious and require immediate medical attention: swelling of the face, tongue, or throat (angioedema), difficulty breathing, hives, or wheezing (hypersensitivity reactions), suicidal thoughts or behavior, and severe breathing problems (respiratory depression). Stopping pregabalin suddenly can also cause unwanted reactions.
