What it is

Nersivic is a brand of pregabalin, an anticonvulsant medicine that also treats nerve pain (neuropathic pain). It works on the central nervous system to calm overactive nerves.

What it's used for

Nersivic (pregabalin) is used for the management of nerve pain caused by diabetic peripheral neuropathy and postherpetic neuralgia (shingles pain), fibromyalgia, and nerve pain due to spinal cord injury. It is also used as an add-on (adjunctive) therapy for partial-onset seizures in patients aged 1 month and older.

How it's taken

Nersivic capsules are taken by mouth, usually with or without food. The dosage depends on the condition being treated. For most adult indications, treatment typically starts at 150 mg per day, divided into two or three doses. Your doctor may adjust the dose based on your response and tolerance. Always follow your doctor's instructions exactly.

Common side effects

Possible side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, swelling of the hands and feet (peripheral edema), weight gain, and blurred vision. More serious but rare side effects include swelling of the face or throat (angioedema), allergic reactions, and suicidal thoughts or behavior. If you experience any severe or worrying symptoms, contact your doctor immediately.

Important cautions

Do not take Nersivic if you are allergic to pregabalin or any of its ingredients. Seek emergency medical help if you notice swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or if you have trouble breathing. This medicine may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior; watch for mood changes. It can cause dizziness and drowsiness—avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you. Do not stop taking Nersivic suddenly, as withdrawal symptoms may occur.
