What it is

Pegblin is a brand of pregabalin. Pregabalin belongs to a class of drugs called anticonvulsants, but it is also used for nerve pain and fibromyalgia. It works by calming overactive nerves in the brain and spinal cord.

What it's used for

According to official prescribing information, pregabalin capsules are used for: neuropathic pain from diabetic peripheral neuropathy, pain after shingles (postherpetic neuralgia), as an add-on treatment for partial-onset seizures in people aged 1 month and older, fibromyalgia, and neuropathic pain from spinal cord injury.

How it's taken

Pegblin capsules are taken by mouth. The typical starting dose for adults is 150 mg per day, divided into two or three doses. Your doctor will increase the dose gradually based on your condition and response. The 300 mg strength is a common dose, but always follow your doctor's instructions exactly. Do not stop taking pregabalin abruptly, as this may cause withdrawal-like effects.

Common side effects

Serious side effects may include angioedema (swelling of the throat or face), hypersensitivity reactions (hives, difficulty breathing), suicidal thoughts or behavior, respiratory depression (slow or weak breathing), dizziness and drowsiness (which can affect driving), weight gain, peripheral edema (swelling of hands or feet), and increased risk of side effects if stopped suddenly. Important cautions
