What it is

Gtrax-1000 is a brand of ceftriaxone, a cephalosporin antibiotic that fights bacterial infections. This medicine comes as an injection with 1000 mg of the active ingredient ceftriaxone.

What it's used for

Ceftriaxone is used to treat or prevent infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by susceptible bacteria. Doctors typically send samples for culture and sensitivity testing before starting treatment to ensure the right antibiotic is chosen.

How it's taken

Ceftriaxone is given by intravenous (IV) infusion over about 30 minutes, or by intramuscular (IM) injection. For this particular product (Pharmacy Bulk Package), it is intended only for IV infusion. Do not use diluents that contain calcium, such as Ringer's solution or Hartmann's solution, as a precipitate may form. Common side effects
