Hifen (Ibuprofen 400 mg Tablets): What You Should Know

What it is

Hifen contains ibuprofen, a pain reliever and fever reducer that belongs to a class of medicines called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by reducing substances in the body that cause pain and inflammation.

What it's used for

Hifen is used to temporarily relieve minor aches and pains due to headaches, toothaches, backaches, menstrual cramps, the common cold, muscular aches, and minor pain of arthritis. It also temporarily reduces fever.

How it's taken

Typically, adults and children 12 years and older can take one tablet every 4 to 6 hours as needed. If one tablet does not provide relief, two tablets may be taken, but no more than six tablets should be used in 24 hours unless a doctor advises otherwise. Always use the smallest effective dose. For children under 12 years, a doctor must be consulted. Follow the directions on the label and ask your pharmacist or doctor if you have questions.

Common side effects

Like other NSAIDs, ibuprofen can cause stomach upset or discomfort. More serious side effects include severe allergic reactions (such as rash, facial swelling, hives, wheezing) and stomach bleeding. Stop use and get medical help immediately if you experience any symptoms of an allergic reaction or notice signs of stomach bleeding.
