What it is

Almay is a brand of ibuprofen, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used as a pain reliever and fever reducer.

What it's used for

Almay temporarily relieves minor aches and pains due to headache, toothache, backache, menstrual cramps, the common cold, muscular aches, and minor pain of arthritis. It also temporarily reduces fever.

How it's taken

Do not take more than directed. Use the smallest effective dose. For adults and children 12 years and over, take one dose every 4 to 6 hours while symptoms persist. If pain or fever does not respond to one dose, two doses may be used. Do not exceed six doses in 24 hours unless directed by a doctor. For children under 12 years, ask a doctor.

Common side effects

Ibuprofen may cause a severe allergic reaction, especially in people allergic to aspirin. Symptoms include rash, facial swelling, asthma (wheezing), hives, skin reddening, shock, and blisters. It may also cause stomach bleeding, especially with higher doses or longer use. If any allergic reaction occurs, stop use and seek medical help immediately.
