BKB Vibumol (Ibuprofen 400 mg) – Uses, Side Effects & Warnings

What it is

BKB Vibumol is a brand of ibuprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works as a pain reliever and fever reducer. It is available as 400 mg capsules and is registered with NAFDAC under number A4-3923.

What it's used for

According to its approved uses, BKB Vibumol temporarily relieves minor aches and pains such as headache, toothache, backache, menstrual cramps, aches from the common cold, muscular aches, and minor pain of arthritis. It also temporarily reduces fever.

How it's taken

For adults and children 12 years and older, the typical dose is one capsule taken every 4 to 6 hours as needed. If pain or fever does not improve with one capsule, two capsules may be used. Do not take more than 6 capsules in 24 hours unless directed by a doctor. For children under 12 years, consult a doctor before use.

Common side effects

Ibuprofen can cause allergic reactions, especially in people allergic to aspirin. Signs include rash, facial swelling, wheezing, hives, skin reddening, blisters, or shock. It may also cause stomach bleeding, especially if taken in higher doses or for longer than directed. If you experience any symptoms of allergic reaction or stomach bleeding (such as black stools or vomit that looks like coffee grounds), stop use and seek medical help right away.

Important cautions

Do not take more than directed. Use the smallest effective dose. If you have a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding, or if you are allergic to aspirin or other NSAIDs, consult your doctor before use. This medicine may interact with other drugs; always inform your healthcare provider about all medications you take. Keep out of reach of children.
