Oflasyn is a brand of ofloxacin, which belongs to a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones. It works by stopping the growth of certain bacteria.

What it's used for

According to prescribing information for an ofloxacin ophthalmic solution, it is used to treat bacterial infections of the eye such as bacterial conjunctivitis and bacterial corneal ulcer caused by susceptible strains of bacteria.

How it's taken

For eye infections, the typical dosing schedule involves applying one to two drops every two to four hours on the first two days, then reducing to four times daily for the next five days. For corneal ulcers, drops are used every 30 minutes while awake initially. Always follow a doctor's instructions exactly.

Common side effects

The most frequently reported side effects include transient ocular burning or discomfort, stinging, redness, itching, eye pain, blurred vision, a feeling of something in the eye, sensitivity to light, tearing, and dryness. Rare reports of dizziness and nausea have also been received.
