Ofloxacin is used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria. The product information specifically mentions its use in bacterial conjunctivitis and bacterial corneal ulcers.

How it's taken

The typical dosing for bacterial conjunctivitis involves instilling one to two drops every two to four hours on the first two days, then one to two drops four times daily on days three through seven. For bacterial corneal ulcers, one to two drops are instilled every 30 minutes while awake on days one and two, with drops also given at approximately four and six hours after retiring. Common side effects

The most common side effect is temporary burning or discomfort in the eye. Rarely, dizziness and nausea have been reported.

Important cautions

Do not use Cilox if you are allergic to Ofloxacin, any other quinolone antibiotic, or any ingredient in the medicine. Ofloxacin eye drops should not be injected into the eye or introduced directly into the front part of the eye. Very rarely, severe allergic reactions including anaphylaxis and shock have occurred with quinolones, even after the first dose.
