What it is

Hydiclo is a brand of diclofenac potassium. Diclofenac potassium belongs to a group of medicines called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). NSAIDs work by reducing pain, inflammation, and fever.

What it's used for

Hydiclo is used for the relief of mild to moderate pain. It is also used to treat primary dysmenorrhea (painful periods) and to relieve the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

How it's taken

Hydiclo is taken by mouth as a tablet. The typical dose for pain or primary dysmenorrhea is 50 mg three times a day. However, the lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest time needed to control symptoms. Always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions exactly.

Common side effects

Like all NSAIDs, Hydiclo may cause side effects. Common ones include indigestion, heartburn, nausea, and stomach pain. Serious side effects can include gastrointestinal bleeding or ulcers, increased blood pressure, heart failure, kidney problems, and liver toxicity. It can also raise the risk of heart attack or stroke, especially with long-term use. Allergic reactions and severe skin reactions are possible. If you experience any unusual symptoms, seek medical help immediately.

Important cautions

Do not take Hydiclo if you are allergic to diclofenac, aspirin, or any other NSAID, or if you have had asthma, hives, or an allergic reaction after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs.
