Ataka 50 mg Tablets: A Brand of Diclofenac Potassium

What it is

Ataka is a brand of diclofenac potassium, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces pain and inflammation. Each tablet contains 50 mg of the active ingredient and is registered with NAFDAC under number B4-2680.

What it's used for

Ataka (diclofenac potassium) is used for the relief of mild to moderate pain, treatment of primary dysmenorrhea (painful menstrual cramps), and to reduce the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

How it's taken

Take the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time. For pain or primary dysmenorrhea, the typical dose is 50 mg three times daily. Your doctor or pharmacist will determine the right dose and schedule for you based on your response.

Common side effects

Like all NSAIDs, diclofenac potassium may cause side effects including: gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration and perforation; increased risk of cardiovascular thrombotic events (heart attack or stroke); hypertension; heart failure and edema; hepatotoxicity (liver damage); renal toxicity and hyperkalemia; and serious skin reactions. See a doctor if you experience stomach pain, bloody stools, chest pain, swelling, or yellowing of the skin.

Important cautions

Do not take Ataka if you are allergic to diclofenac or any other NSAID, or if you have a history of asthma, hives, or allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs. Use with caution in people with heart disease, high blood pressure, liver or kidney problems. It should not be used in the late stages of pregnancy.
