Sogalis: A Brand of Tadalafil for Erectile Dysfunction and BPH

What it is

Sogalis is a brand of tadalafil, a PDE5 inhibitor. PDE5 inhibitors work by increasing blood flow to certain areas of the body. Tadalafil is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) and the symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH).

What it's used for

Sogalis (tadalafil) is indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia, and for men who have both ED and BPH. When used with finasteride to start BPH treatment, the combination is recommended for up to 26 weeks.

How it's taken

Sogalis tablets should not be split. They are typically taken as needed before sexual activity. The registered strength is 20 mg, but a doctor may start treatment with a lower dose and adjust based on how well the medicine works and how it is tolerated. Do not take more than once a day. Always follow your doctor's instructions.

Common side effects

The most common side effects (occurring in at least 2% of users) include headache, indigestion (dyspepsia), back pain, muscle aches, nasal congestion, facial flushing, and pain in the limbs. If you experience any side effects, inform your healthcare provider.

Important cautions

Do not take Sogalis if you are using any form of organic nitrate (such as nitroglycerin) or riociguat, because the combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. A history of serious allergic reaction to tadalafil is also a contraindication. Before using tadalafil, your doctor should evaluate your health, especially your heart, because sexual activity may not be advisable if you have certain cardiovascular conditions. Using tadalafil with alpha-blockers, blood pressure medicines, or consuming 5 or more units of alcohol may increase the risk of low blood pressure. Seek medical advice before starting treatment.
