What it is

Sagra is a brand of sildenafil, which is a phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitor. It works by increasing blood flow to the penis to help achieve and maintain an erection during sexual stimulation.

Sagra (sildenafil) is used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It is not a cure for ED and works only when a man is sexually aroused.

How it's taken

Sagra tablets are taken orally as needed before sexual activity. The typical starting dose is 50 mg taken about 1 hour before sexual activity, but the tablet can be taken anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours beforehand. Depending on how well it works and any side effects, the dose may be increased to a maximum of 100 mg or decreased to 25 mg. Only one dose should be taken per day. Always follow the advice of your doctor or pharmacist for the right dose for you.

Common side effects

Common side effects of sildenafil may include headache, flushing, indigestion, nasal congestion, and dizziness. More serious side effects include prolonged erections lasting more than 4 hours (priapism), sudden vision loss, and hearing loss. Important cautions

Do not take Sagra if you are also taking any form of nitrate medicine (such as nitroglycerin) or guanylate cyclase stimulators like riociguat. Sildenafil can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure when combined with nitrates. Avoid sexual activity if you have a heart condition that makes it unsafe. Tell your doctor about all your medicines, especially alpha-blockers or blood pressure medications, as sildenafil can increase their blood pressure-lowering effect.
