What it is

Chigra contains sildenafil citrate, which is a phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitor. It works by increasing blood flow to the penis to help achieve and maintain an erection when sexually stimulated.

What it's used for

Chigra is indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) in men.

How it's taken

For most patients, the typical dose is 50 mg taken as needed about one hour before sexual activity. However, the tablet can be taken anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours before sex. Depending on effectiveness and tolerance, the dose may be increased to a maximum of 100 mg (the strength of Chigra) or decreased to 25 mg. The maximum recommended frequency is once per day. Always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions; do not exceed the recommended dose.

Common side effects

Common side effects may include headache, flushing, indigestion, nasal congestion, dizziness, and visual disturbances such as blue-tinted vision. Serious side effects such as a prolonged erection lasting more than 4 hours, sudden vision loss, or sudden hearing loss require immediate medical attention.

Important cautions

Do not take Chigra if you are using any form of nitrates (often prescribed for chest pain) or riociguat, as this can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Sexual activity may be inadvisable if you have certain cardiovascular conditions; consult your doctor before use. If you experience an erection lasting more than 4 hours, seek emergency medical help. Stop use and seek medical care if you have sudden vision loss or hearing loss.
