What it is

Nestcam is a brand of piroxicam. Piroxicam belongs to a class of medicines called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.

What it's used for

Nestcam (piroxicam) is used to relieve the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis (a condition where joints wear down) and rheumatoid arthritis (a condition where the immune system attacks the joints).

How it's taken

Nestcam is taken by mouth as a capsule. The typical dose for osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis is 20 mg once daily. However, the dose should be the lowest effective one for the shortest time needed. Always follow your doctor’s or pharmacist’s directions and do not change your dose without consulting them.

Common side effects

Common side effects can include stomach upset, heartburn, nausea, or headache. More serious side effects (which are discussed in the prescribing information) include an increased risk of heart attack or stroke, stomach ulcers or bleeding, liver damage, high blood pressure, worsening heart failure, kidney problems, and severe allergic reactions. Important cautions

Do not take Nestcam if you are allergic to piroxicam, aspirin, or any other NSAID, or if you have a history of asthma, hives, or allergic reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs.
