What it is

Lifevin-20 contains piroxicam, which belongs to a class of medicines called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). NSAIDs help reduce pain, swelling, and joint stiffness.

What it's used for

Lifevin-20 (piroxicam) is indicated for the relief of signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It is meant to treat the symptoms of these conditions, not the underlying disease.

How it's taken

Lifevin-20 is taken by mouth as a capsule. The usual dose is 20 mg once daily. Your doctor will determine the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time based on your needs. Do not change your dose without your doctor’s advice. Always follow your healthcare provider’s instructions.

Common side effects

Like all NSAIDs, piroxicam can cause serious side effects including cardiovascular thrombotic events (such as heart attack or stroke), gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration and perforation, liver toxicity, high blood pressure, heart failure and fluid retention, kidney problems, and allergic reactions. Tell your doctor immediately if you experience chest pain, stomach pain, black stools, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, yellowing of skin or eyes, swelling of the legs, or trouble breathing.

Important cautions

Do not take Lifevin-20 if you are allergic to piroxicam or any ingredient in the capsule, or if you have had asthma, hives, or any allergic-type reaction after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs. Avoid using this medicine if you have severe liver disease, active bleeding, or are pregnant (especially in the last 3 months). If you take medicines for high blood pressure, your doctor may need to monitor your blood pressure more often. Stop taking Lifevin-20 and seek medical help if you develop signs of liver injury (nausea, fatigue, itching, jaundice) or allergic reaction. This medicine is not recommended for use while breastfeeding without a doctor’s guidance.
