What it is

Neroxicam contains piroxicam, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It belongs to a class of medicines that work by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.

What it's used for

Neroxicam (piroxicam) is indicated for relief of the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

How it's taken

The typical dose for adults is one 20 mg capsule taken by mouth once a day. However, the dose and duration should be adjusted for each individual's needs. Always follow your doctor's instructions and take the lowest effective dose for the shortest time necessary.

Common side effects

Common side effects may include stomach upset, nausea, heartburn, diarrhoea, constipation, gas, dizziness, or headache. Serious side effects include cardiovascular thrombotic events, gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration and perforation, hepatotoxicity, hypertension, heart failure and oedema, renal toxicity, hyperkalemia, and anaphylactic reactions.

Important cautions

Do not use Neroxicam if you are allergic to piroxicam, aspirin, or any other NSAID, or if you have a history of asthma or allergic-type reactions after taking NSAIDs. This medicine can cause liver damage – stop use and inform your doctor if you experience nausea, stomach pain, dark urine, or yellowing of the skin or eyes. It may also raise blood pressure, worsen heart failure, or cause kidney problems. Avoid use in late pregnancy. Inform your doctor of all medicines you take, especially antihypertensives.
