What it is

Elfadol is a brand of paracetamol (also known as paracetamol in Nigeria). It is a pain reliever and fever reducer (analgesic and antipyretic). Each tablet contains 500 mg of paracetamol.

What it's used for

Elfadol is used to temporarily relieve minor aches and pains due to headache, the common cold, backache, minor pain of arthritis, toothache, muscular aches, and premenstrual or menstrual cramps. It also temporarily reduces fever.

How it's taken

For adults and children 12 years and older, the typical dose is 2 tablets every 6 hours while symptoms last. Do not take more than 6 tablets in 24 hours unless directed by a doctor. Do not use for more than 10 days without medical advice. For children under 12 years, ask a doctor before giving this medicine.

Common side effects

Paracetamol can cause severe skin reactions such as reddening, blisters, or rash. If any skin reaction occurs, stop using Elfadol and seek medical help right away. Taking more than 4,000 mg of paracetamol in 24 hours or combining it with 3 or more alcoholic drinks daily can cause severe liver damage.

Important cautions

Do not exceed the recommended dose. Avoid using other medicines that also contain paracetamol at the same time. Do not drink 3 or more alcoholic beverages daily while taking this product, as it increases the risk of liver damage. If you have liver disease or are unsure about usage, consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.
