The most common side effects are gastrointestinal and include diarrhoea (16% of patients), nausea (7%), loose stools (6%), abdominal pain (3%), indigestion (3%), and vomiting. Do not take cefixime if you are allergic to cefixime or any other cephalosporin antibiotic. Serious allergic reactions, including shock, have been reported. If you experience signs of an allergic reaction (rash, itching, swelling, trouble breathing), stop the medicine and get emergency medical help.
