CEFIRAT CEFIXIME 400MG TABS
CEFIRAT (Cefixime) 400mg tablet is an oral cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections such as urinary tract infections, ear infections, throat infections, bronchitis, and gonorrhea.
What it is
Cefixime is a cephalosporin antibacterial drug. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria that cause infection.
What it's used for
It is used to treat the following bacterial infections in adults and children aged six months and older: uncomplicated urinary tract infections, otitis media (middle ear infection), pharyngitis and tonsillitis, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, and uncomplicated gonorrhea (cervical or urethral). Cefixime should only be used for infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by bacteria, to help reduce the development of drug-resistant bacteria.
Common side effects
The most common side effects are gastrointestinal: diarrhea (16%), nausea (7%), loose stools (6%), abdominal pain (3%), dyspepsia (3%), and vomiting.
Important cautions
Do not use cefixime if you are allergic to cefixime or any other cephalosporin antibiotic. Serious allergic reactions, including shock and death, have been reported. Stop taking the medicine and seek medical help immediately if you develop signs of an allergic reaction (rash, itching, swelling, trouble breathing). Cefixime may cause Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea; tell your doctor if you develop persistent or severe diarrhea during or after treatment.
