Common side effects
The most common side effects include diarrhoea or loose stools (9%), nausea (3%), skin rashes and hives (urticaria) (3%), vomiting (1%), and vaginal infection (vaginitis) (1%). If diarrhoea becomes severe or you notice skin blistering or jaundice, seek medical help immediately.
Important cautions
Do not use Rapiclav if you have a history of serious allergic reaction to amoxicillin, clavulanate, penicillins, cephalosporins, or other beta-lactam antibiotics. Also avoid if you have ever had liver problems (such as cholestatic jaundice) associated with amoxicillin-clavulanate. Stop the medicine and get urgent medical care if you develop a severe skin rash, difficulty breathing, or signs of liver injury (such as yellowing of the skin or eyes). Also tell your doctor if you have infectious mononucleosis, as rash is more likely.
