Other side effects can include heart rhythm changes and vision disturbances.
Important cautions
Do not take quinine if you have a prolonged QT interval (a heart rhythm condition) or if you have had an allergic reaction to quinine. Quinine can cause serious blood disorders such as low platelet count (thrombocytopenia) and hemolytic anemia. It may also cause heart rhythm problems, especially if taken with other medicines that prolong the QT interval. Avoid taking quinine with rifampin or neuromuscular blocking agents. Tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking.
