Lonart is used to treat acute, uncomplicated malaria infections caused by Plasmodium falciparum. It is not for severe or complicated malaria and cannot prevent malaria.

Common side effects include headache, loss of appetite, dizziness, weakness, and joint pain. Let your healthcare provider know if these bother you.
Important cautions
Do not use Lonart if you are allergic to artemether, lumefantrine, or any ingredient. Avoid use with strong CYP3A4 inducers (e.g., rifampin, carbamazepine, phenytoin, St. John’s wort) as they can reduce effectiveness. Caution if you have a heart condition called QT prolongation, low potassium or magnesium levels, or are taking other drugs that affect heart rhythm. Do not take halofantrine within one month of Lonart.
