The most common side effects include headache, loss of appetite, dizziness, weakness, and joint pain. Other possible effects include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and sleep disturbances.
Important cautions
Do not use if you are allergic to artemether, lumefantrine, or any ingredient in this medicine. Avoid use with strong CYP3A4 inducers such as rifampin, carbamazepine, phenytoin, and St. John's wort as they may reduce effectiveness. Caution in patients with heart rhythm problems (QT prolongation), low potassium or magnesium levels, or those taking other medicines that affect heart rhythm. Halofantrine should not be taken within one month of this medicine. Consult a doctor if symptoms persist or worsen.
