Amikacin Injection 500 mg/2 mL (Amikacin Sulphate) – Uses, Dosage & Benefits Amikacin Injection contains amikacin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic used for the treatment of serious bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms. This medicine is commonly used for: Treatment of severe bacterial infections Management of respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia Treatment of urinary tract infections (UTIs) Management of bloodstream (septicemia) and hospital-acquired infections Treatment of bone, joint, and intra-abdominal infections It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, thereby killing bacteria and stopping the spread of infection. Composition Each 2 mL vial contains: Amikacin (as Sulfate) – 500 mg Dosage and Administration Route of Administration: Intravenous (IV) or Intramuscular (IM) To be administered only by a healthcare professional. Dosage is based on body weight, severity of infection, and kidney function. It must not be self-administered.
