Aciclovir Cream BP 5% w/w (Aciclovir) – Uses, Dosage & Benefits Aciclovir Cream BP 5% w/w contains aciclovir, an antiviral medicine used to treat infections caused by herpes viruses on the skin. This medicine is commonly used for: Cold sores (herpes labialis) Genital herpes (external lesions) Herpes simplex skin infections Initial and recurrent herpes outbreaks It helps stop the virus from multiplying, speeding up healing and reducing symptoms like pain and itching. Composition Each 15 g contains: Aciclovir BP – 5% w/w Dosage and Administration Route of Administration: Topical Apply a thin layer to the affected area as prescribed by a healthcare professional, usually several times daily. Wash hands before and after application and avoid contact with eyes or mucous membranes. Important Information This is a Prescription-Only Medicine (POM) and should be used under medical supervision. For external use only; do not apply on eyes or inside the mouth. May cause mild skin irritation or burning at the application site. Begin treatment as early as possible for best results.
